Altoids: Supporting slave beatings since 1780

Apparently Altoids thinks being whipped is like eating a mint. I fully support the person that approved this ad experience the difference.

altoids thinks being whipped is like eating a mint

Of blow jobs and treason

Why the FUCK doesn’t our congress have the balls to impeach this fucker? Lied into a war that has raped a country, bankrupted the United States morally and financially and left us without over 4,000 patriotic men and women who otherwise would be home caring for their families or coming to the rescue when a flood hits or a tornado strikes. We allow our president to reward treason and we hold him and his administration accountable for NOTHING.

We the people of the United States, in order to form a more perfect union, establish justice, insure domestic tranquility, provide for the common defense, promote the general welfare, and secure the blessings of liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.

For all of this countries’ faults and missteps and wrongness; these words had meaning- had substance; drove us to right our wrongs and continually grow better as a nation and as a people.

We the people have allowed the presidency to be perverted into a form that openly mocks the foundations that begat the United States of America. We have betrayed ourselves.

It is time for redemption.

happy fucking independence day.

Coulter Redux

(Un)Intellectual (Dis)Honesty and Just(ifiable) Desserts

Anyway you want to discuss the Don Imus incident, it was just wrong. Joe Conason @ as usual succinctly states the argument and regardless of the motivation, MSNBC and CBS did the right thing by firing the ignorant ass.

The argument I have heard from friends and cohorts most often is twofold and incorrect:

1. Black people use these terms all the time (they don’t)
2. Firing Imus over his comments is a slap to free speech and the first amendment (it isn’t)

On point One, Imus claiming he’s heard these words in rap songs and didn’t really think they’d be all that offensive is just an outright lie. He may be a schmuck, but he’s not a complete idiot. Imus has a long history of racial slurs and had admitted as much (hiring Bernard McGuirk to do the “nigger jokes”). using the “I saw them do it” defense for a person like Imus is the worst in unintellectual dishonesty.
First of all, anyone that is not black that knows people that are, knows that even inner city kids aren’t constantly always using slurs on each other. While you might hear it more in the street because “cred” is important, you rarely hear it in individual conversations or small groups. Maybe it’s because I’m pasty that this is my experience, but regardless the idea that African Americans across the country are always using racial slurs to refer to each other and it’s all okay is ridiculous regardless of what the stereotypes promoted through gansta hop and television promote.
I’ve hated Imus since I first heard him on radio in NY around 1974 (I was 9); but any possible shred of respect (little-to-no chance) I might have for him is lost in that he can’t even take responsibility for his own words and opinions. A great line in the last episode of season 3 of “The Wire” discussed a vile racist man that had owned a mortuary in West Baltimore who claimed the only way he’d take on black people and bury them through his business is if he could “take them all at once.” Councilman Carcetti responded that the comment was reprehensible and Colvin, a black man, responded “yeah- but at least you knew where the man stood.”

We know where Imus stands- behind whatever he can until he’s forced to accept otherwise.

On point Two- This is much more simple- no first amendment rights were abridged or denied and free speech is alive and well. The decision to withdraw advertising or fire Imus outright is not impinging on anyone’s right to call people “nappy headed ho’s” or any other despicable word- Imus is still free to say whatever stupid ignorant thing he wants.

He just won’t be getting paid millions to do so. And this proves that free speech is alive and well.

Millions have spoken out loud “We don’t want to hear your shit Imus- go away.”

i fucking hate people

Anatomical Miracle! Attorney General speaks through his anus!!!

Torture advocate Attorney General Alberto Gonzalez stated today that “mistakes were made” in how his office handled the firing of 8 U.S. Attorneys and asserted that he will take full responsibility and did so by firing his chief of staff whom is apparently still employed.

Medical experts are astounded that while the phrase “talking through his ass” is quite common, up until today it has been solely metaphorical.

Let’s hope Gonzalez can evolve this talent thusly.

In other news, Joe Conason is all over this (as usual).

The Disintegration of a Presidency and the Dismantling of America: A call for impeachment

It is no surprise that every aspect of the Bush II presidency is unraveling under close inspection as one scandal after another comes to light revealing ineptitude, dishonesty and a flagrant disdain for the United States Constitution and the American people. “Liberals” and “Intellectuals” that have taken pause to actually examine the decisions and policies from this administration* are not surprised; we have been respectfully (mostly) requesting even the most basic levels of scrutiny and oversight by the media and Congress all along. Whatever the reasons this did not happen, whether it was a willful ignorance or a complicity of inaction; the end result is the most egregious violations of all aspects of laws and life in the United States not the least of which being the trust of the American people.

Nixon lied about Watergate and resigned.
Clinton lied about an extramarital affair and was impeached.

George W. Bush and his administration has knowingly and willfully lied to the American people and the rest of the world over and over again to push their own agendas that have destabilized the globe and caused the deaths of thousands of Americans and tens of thousands of Iraqis and others.

To support my claim and justify my call for impeachment, I’ll provide a list of actions and events that all fall under the sole direction and discretion of the Bush Administration. Every single item listed below has been disputed and refuted by the administration until incontrovertible evidence to the contrary emerged whereas they finally admitted the truth and found someone to take the blame. EVERY item was policy directed from the oval office.

Indisputable facts:

Not Supporting Our Troops…

Going to war under false pretenses and ignored intelligence

There is a mis perception that we went to war with bad intelligence, This is an outright lie. The intelligence offered by all branches of US and allied services was impeccable- they all said there was NO evidence of WMD’s. This is not faulty intelligence, This is solid intelligence work. It just went against what the Bush administration wanted to hear. Just a few instances of President Bush and Vice president Cheney lying:

…with inadequate training

…with inadequate armor and gear

Cutting funding for treatment of veterans

Haliburton screws Americans yet again

Haliburton has announced that they will be moving their corporate headquarters from Houston, Texas to Dubai, UAE this morning.

I thought it would be interesting to see what news savvy organizations would be picking this up- results below.

But first, here are the notes I took upon learning the news (wholly by accident researching some quotes for Robi):

  • What are the estimated total dollars in contracts that Haliburton/KBR have with the US Government?
  • How many years are these contracts for (just the really big ones)?
  • How much in taxes has Haliburton paid each year on income gained by the U.S and how much estimated do they still have to pay through the end of the current contracts?
  • Do they still have to pay US taxes or are they now going to be fully under Dubai tax law?
  • What clauses/provisions, if any, do our government contracts have about the contracted corporation’s responsibility to serve in the best interest of the U.S. government (none).

The vexing questions I will try to answer in upcoming days.

I think the answers will be brutal. I think the American people have a right to demand that the contracts given to Haliburton be redacted due to the gross misuse and fraud already discovered and now that the company is moving it’s corporate operations to the UAE which has been identified in the 9/11 Commision’s report as having ties to Osama bin Laden and perhaps even aiding and abetting him.

At what point are Americans going to stand up and stop the Bush Administration and their cronies from raping America further? From the start our troops have received inadequate armor and training; have been shoved into a war that had no planning or consideration whatsoever and was initiated on false pretenses; have received the worst in medical care for the injured, both physically and mentally– all the while huge uncontested contracts with little or no oversight are handed to companies like Haliburton that has continually abused and committed fraud (as early as 2004– a year after the war began). Billions of dollars going into a corporation’s hands that has no loyalty or sense of service to the primary country that has fed it. Meanwhile our veterans have dismal medical care and facilities to contend with at home.

This is criminal morally and otherwise.

As to the “Up to the second” news on the internet by the major US news organizations; as of 2:36 pm PDT only the following had the story:

ABC Halliburton Will Move HQ to Dubai
New York Times Halliburton Will Move Headquarters to Dubai
Washington Post Halliburton to Relocate to Dubai

Not sure the WSJ’s story headline really counts- it kind of sounds like Haliburton will be joining a bridge club….

WSJ Halliburton Expands Mideast Presence; CEO to Spend More Time in Dubai

Those that didn’t have anything at all had the following as their top story:

CBS Suspect Arrested In Newborn Kidnapping
CNN Bush greeted by pomp and violent protests
Fox Kidnapped Texas Newborn Found Alive
MSNBC Bush renews support for strong ally Colombia
US News and World Report: Beyond Baghdad, Security Struggles

Draw your own conclusions.

at what point does it just get too fucking ridiculous?

Current mood: Mother-fuckin’ ripshit violent

It’s just too much- forget the fact that estimates now say over 100,000 Iraqis have been killed, that innocent aid workers are being kidnapped and beheaded, that the incredible self serving greed got us into all this in the first place- forget all that. I expect government to lie, cheat, steal. Look at Clinton the great middle-of-the-roader. Yeah- he’s light years better than the current administration, but he passed many policies that fucked with the environment, supported big business over social policy, etc.

But you know- as much as I hate the Neocons and their Reaganite legacy,e ven after they bought the supreme court so they could win- i never ever EVER expected they would go so low as to hire people that throw out ballots, try to change election laws at the minute to screw the vote, employ intimidation and threats to keep people from voting, do every vile possible thing to subvert the democratic process. This goes way beyond Florida in 2000. This isn’t Sierra Leon. This isn’t El Salvador. This is AMERICA. I am so fucking offended. I’m no pollyanna- after years of political activism in college and beyond trying to push for justice globally and help save the people of the world- I realized that these people mostly don’t want to be saved. I kept fighting anyway. It was the right thing to do. I know that we do not live in a representative democracy. If we did, Gore would have won and the electoral college would not exist. I’ve read Howard Zinn. I understand the fallacy of freedom and liberty for all and how our country is set up to benefit the wealthy by keeping a large middle class in the middle to keep the poor from rioting.
I’m no fucking Pollyanna.
But, for all the flag thumping, bible humping, rhetoric dumping; I still had a belief that these people at some core level believed in the United States and the governmental structure that our founders set up. I can even extend myself enough to even think that some of them think they are right and are not only out for greed and white christian supremacy. I have once again been proven wrong and once again my ability to have any faith in anything has been bashed into a bloody pulp.
I get emotional when I vote. Really. i walk into a polling booth and I feel a rush of blood through my body, my cock stiffens, my heart rate increases and tears well in my eyes. It’s so important to me. It’s so intrinsic to the very basic precepts of a free society. It’s the only thing I hold dearly from the laws of men that has any meaning and worth. The right to vote is America. Without, even the lie of what we stand for is meaningless.
I am so sick with anger, i want to spit and spit and spit.

I am so sick with anger, i can’t feel anything.

I am so sick with anger.

I feel so sick.
